I love popcorn! I don’t know about you, but sometimes I need something to crunch on for a while. If we cure that crunch craving with chips and crackers we are sure to see the numbers go up on the scale. There is no doubt that a healthy bowl of popcorn can aid in weight loss. Your choice in popcorn is important though—lose the butter topping!
I was a popcorn maniac before I ever knew it contained so many awesome health benefits! First, it’s a natural whole grain and that means it’s filled with healthy oils, vitamins, protein and fiber.
The high fiber content helps you stay regular, reduces cholesterol, and lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. To top that off, popcorn has a high level of the healthy polyphenol antioxident, which aids in preventing many degenerative diseases.
I am not picky about many things, but I am when it comes to popcorn! In my opinion air popped popcorn tastes like cardboard, and microwave popcorn just seems not-so-fresh and a little overdone with whatever they put in it! I don’t profess my expertise in many things when it comes to cooking, but I do make a mean bowl of popcorn! Check out my technique.
Heat Canola oil in a large saucepan.
Add Orville Redenbacher’s yellow popcorn.
Pop it over high heat and shake it a little.
When the popping substantially slows down, immediately pour in bowl.
Sprinkle with salt and Parmesan cheese!
Yum!
